The sheep don't mind the rain as much, but still join the panicked run with the goats until they realize there is nothing to run from and turn back around to graze.
We did have a couple frosty days, but since the avocado trees are planted on the hillside, the cold air flowed downhill like water and the avocados were safe from frosted leaves.
The Bay Area is full of microclimates, and Chetwyn has even smaller pockets of these noticeable temperature changes. When we first moved onto the property, we would walk around and find where the cool air settled and where the warmer areas were. That is why we planted the cherry trees at the bottom of the hill, because they like the chilly nights. And my dad has planted a successful Cherimoya close to their house, where
it is noticeable warmer.
