Ferns, Friends, and Fruit on Toast
Hi ,
We are finished with all our early varieties of avocado. This month, we will be bringing Hass and Gem avocados to the market. Both of these are creamy fruit with high oil content and dark skin. We can't wait for you to give them a try.

Feathered Crowns
We have been able to bring asparagus to the market all through June, but alas the season won't last for much longer. New crowns of asparagus were planted this season, so we are hoping for a bigger harvest next year.
Right now, our asparagus plants are going to seed, which means they are sprouting big, feathery ferns. Sometime we use these ferns in flower arrangements, since they add a neat texture to the bouquet.

Duck, duck... duck
Our three newest additions to the farm! Sally, Maggie, and Mary are beautiful Magpie ducks. My mom raised them from ducklings, and as a result they love spending time with her. Sometimes she takes them for walks down to the garden, and they happily waddle
after her. These ducks are super fun to have around the place. They greet everyone loudly and love lettuce leaf donations.

Did you know that avocados are a superfood? They are proven to be good for both the brain and the body. Here are some nutritional facts about our favorite fruit!
Avocados are packed with vitamin C. Though this vitamin does not cure the common cold, it works to build immunity and prevents iron deficiency and cataracts.
They contain more potassium than a banana. Potassium provides a number of benefits, including reducing muscle cramps, increasing bone mineral density, and lowering blood pressure.
Magnesium is also found in avocados. Some health benefits of magnesium include increased energy levels, more collagen production (a protein that
strengthens blood vessels, skin, and bones), and offers anti-inflammatory benefits.
Avocados are also full of monounsaturated fats, which are good for the brain.
Some other vitamins and minerals found in avocados include: Vitamin E, K, and B-6, riboflavin, niacin, folate, and pantothenic acid.
It's awesome that something so tasty is good for the health as well!

Mozzarella Nectarine Avocado Toast
Though it might seem strange, this combination is delicious! The mozzarella emphasizes the creaminess of the avocado and the nectarine adds a delicate sweetness. Plus, nectarines are in season. We topped our toast with fleshly picked mint leaves to add a refreshing zing. Next
time you're planning to make some avocado toast, give this yummy combo a try.
